Right Products For The

Right Solutions

You and your home have personal styles. Some homes look best with traditional composition shingles, while others look better with metal panels (or even metal shingles).

Strength

What Is The Most Durable?

Most of the time, low cost materials do not withstand Texas summers and Texas storms.

Shingles are the most common type of roofing material for homes in Texas. Standard 3-tab shingles are becoming less common because homeowners today are better educated than in years past. Most re-roofs are done using architectural shingles, but there are also designer shingles on the market for a different appearance.

Some homeowners choose to go back with metal shingles or metal panels when re-roofing their homes.

Other homeowners choose to use synthetic materials for their roofs. These materials can be very durable, and environmentally friendly.

Shingles

For years, composition shingles have been the standard for most homes in Texas.

3-tab shingles are the lowest, builder grade shingles. While very economical, they are not very durable, especially in our Texas weather.

Most homeowners today have architectural shingles installed, such as the GAF Timberline HDZ or Owens Corning Duration. These shingles offer great protection against wind driven rain, and are rated as Class 3 when it comes to impact resistance.

Some homeowners choose to upgrade to designer or premium shingles, such as the GAF Slateline. These provide superior protection over the standard architectural shingles.

There are many shingle manufacturers on the market, but my preferred ones are:

GAF Roofing
Certainteed Roofing
Owens Corning Roofing
Atlas Roofing

Metal

Metal Panels

When it comes to metal roofing panels, there are some differences between styles.

Exposed fastener systems, such as the 5V crimp style, can provide great long term hail resistance, while needing maintenance over the years.

A standing seam roof, however, provides the same hail resistance, with less maintenance long term.

Different manufacturers have different finishes available. One of my favorite metal companies is McElroy Metals.

Metal Shingles

When it comes to metal shingles, there are several options available with different styles available.

If you want your roof to have the appearance of barrel tile, that option is available.

Perhaps you want it to still look like a shingle roof, but have the durability of metal. We have a product for that as well.

Both Decra & TEK are well respected metal shingle roofing system manufacturers.

Tile & Slate

Tile & Slate

Most homes cannot withstand the weight of tile & slate roofing. If your home currently has tile or slate on the roof, great! We can look at re-roofing using a variety of products.

If you want your home to have the appearance of tile or slate, but it does not currently have tile, we can look at either metal shingles or a synthetic roofing material.

Synthetic Roofing

Synthetic Roofing

As more homeowners search for premium appearances and products, more synthetic materials have been entering the market.

EcoStar is one such material that has the appearance of slate.

EuroShield is another that has a variety of profiles available. EuroShield has an option that is hail proof.

Flat Roofing

Flat Roofing

Flat roofs are notorious for leaking. With today's materials and install practices, we can greatly reduce the chance of you having issues.

Materials like modified bitumen can provide economical solutions, which TPO can provide long term protection.
